અંધકારના હાથી ઉપર ચાંદ મહાવત બેઠો :
તેજકિરણની સીડી મૂકીને સૂરજ ઉતારે હેઠો !

સૂરજને હાથી નહીં ચાલે
એના ઘોડા સાત;
રવિવારથી શનિ સુધી છે
સાતેનો સંગાથ.
આજ ભલેને ચાંદો લાગે મહારાજાનો બેટો :
તેજકિરણની સીડી મૂકીને સૂરજ ઉતારે હેઠો !

ચાંદા સાથે તારાઓનું
લશ્કર કરતું કૂચ;
નરબંકા સૂરજના તાપે
બળે બધાની મૂછ.
સૂરજ ને ચાંદાનો થાશે કદી આભમાં ભેટો
તો તો જોવા જેવી : આજે આંખ મીંચીને લેટો !
