જો અસ્તિત્વવાદનું આંદોલન અસ્તિત્વમાં આવ્યું તો શાને કારણે આવ્યું? એને સમજવા માટે ને એનો મુકાબલો કરવા માટે હવે આ જ સ્થિતિ જો આજે પણ હોય તો આપણે અસ્તિત્વવાદને આજની સ્થિતિની કસોટીએ ચડાવીને જાણી લઈએ કે એમાં એ ઉપયુક્ત નીવડે છે કે કેમ? અસ્તિત્વવાદનું કહેવું એટલું જ છે કે જે બને છે તેમાંથી અનુપસ્થિત રહીને તમે એને સમજવાનો પ્રયત્ન ન કરો. આપણને આ બધું સમજાતું નથી, એનું કારણ એ છે કે ઘણી બધી પરિસ્થિતિમાંથી આપણે ક્યારના ગેરહાજર રહેવાનું શીખી ગયા છીએ. જ્યાં આપણે ગેરહાજર છીએ ત્યાં શું ખુલાસો કરી શકીએ? હું પ્રામાણિક હોઉં તો જ્યાં ગેરહાજર હોઉં એને વિષે કંઈ ટિપ્પણી કરી ન શકું. સુરેશ જોષી
