સુરેશ જોષી
અભિનવગુપ્તને એના કોઈ સમકાલીને પૂછ્યું: તો તમે કયા પરિશુદ્ધ તત્ત્વની વાત કરી તે કહો. અભિનવગુપ્તે નિ:સંકોચ જવાબ આપ્યો: એ તો મુનિઓએ કહ્યું જ છે, ન તુ અપૂર્વ કિંચિત્!
આ ‘કિંચિત્’માં પણ એવું કશું અપૂર્વ નથી જે ‘મુનિ’ઓએ ન કહ્યું હોય; કશું અપૂર્વ નથી. કાવ્યમીમાંસાના પ્રશ્નો સદા ચર્ચાતા જ રહેવા જોઈએ, એનો પ્રવાહ કદી સ્થગિત નહીં થવો જોઈએ. એ દિશામાં આ એક નમ્ર પ્રયત્ન છે. વાદવિવાદ થવા જોઈએ, સમસ્યાઓ ઊભી કર્યા કરવી જોઈએ તો જ બૌદ્ધિક જાગૃતિની વાટને સંકોરવાનું શક્ય બને.
વન્દ્ય તો છે પૂર્વસૂરિઓ જેમણે શાસ્ત્રસમારમ્ભ કર્યો. અહીં ઉઠાવેલા, કાવ્યાસ્વાદ પરત્વેના, એક બે મુદ્દાઓ જો કોઈને કઠે, ખૂંચે ને કંઈક કરી નાખવા ઉશ્કેરે તો બસ.
