‘એકત્ર' મુદ્રિત સાહિત્યનું વીજાણુ સાહિત્યમાં રૂપાંતર અને વિસ્તાર ઝંખતી સંસ્થા છે. અમારો ભાવનામંત્ર છે: ગુજરાતીની ઉત્તમ કૃતિઓને પલકમાત્રમાં બહોળા વાચકો સુધી પ્રસારવી. આપણી મધુર ગુજરાતી ભાષા અને એના મનભાવન સાહિત્ય માટેનાં સ્નેહ-પ્રેમ-મમતા અને ગૌરવથી પ્રેરાઈને ‘એકત્ર' પરિવારે સાહિત્યનાં ઉત્તમ ને રસપ્રદ પુસ્તકોને, ઈન્ટરનેટના માધ્યમથી, સૌ વાચકોને મુક્તપણે પહોંચાડવાનો સંકલ્પ કરેલો છે. ‘પ્રોજેક્ટ ગુટનબર્ગ’ અને ગૂગલે દુનિયાભરનાં અપ્રાપ્ય અને જૂનાં એવાં એક લાખ પુસ્તકોને સ્કેન કરીને વિનામૂલ્યે વાંચી શકાય તેવી વ્યવસ્થા ઊભી કરી છે. આ યોજનામાંથી પ્રેરણા લઇને ‘એકત્ર’એ ગુજરાતી સાહિત્યનાં છેલ્લાં ૨૦૦ વર્ષનાં પ્રશિષ્ટ અને રસપ્રદ પુસ્તકોને ઈબુક-ગ્રંથશ્રેણી રૂપે, દુનિયાભરમાં વસતા ગુજરાતી વાચકોને એમના મોબાઈલ, આઈપેડ કે કૉમ્પ્યુટર પર સુલભ કરી આપવાનો એક સાહસિક સંકલ્પ કર્યો છે.

‘એકત્ર’માટે ગુજરાતી સાહિત્યનાં પુસ્તકો સુલભ કરવાનો પ્રયત્ન કરાઈ રહ્યો છે. સાહિત્યનાં હાલનાં પ્રકાશનો, તથા પૂર્વેનાં પ્રકાશનો હાથવગાં કરાવવાં છે. અહીં આ પુસ્તકોને સીધા જ ઓનલાઈન વાંચી શકાય એવી વ્યવસ્થા ઊભી કરી છે. ડીજિટાઇઝ કરવા જેવાં કેટલાંક ગુજરાતી પુસ્તકોમાંથી કૉપીરાઈટ-મુક્ત – અને જે લેખકોની મંજૂરી મળી રહી છે તેમનાં પણ – જે જે પુસ્તકો તૈયાર થતાં જાય છે તેમ તેમ તેને વેબસાઈટ ઉપર મૂકતા જઈએ છીએ. આજ સુધીમાં અમે જે જે પુસ્તકો અમારા આ ઈપ્રકાશનના માધ્યમથી પ્રકાશિત કરેલાં છે એ સર્વ આપ અહીંથી વાંચી શકશો.

પુસ્તકો સૌને અમારે પહોંચાડવાં છે – પણ દૃષ્ટિપૂર્વક. અમારો ‘વેચવાનો' આશય નથી, ‘વહેંચવાનો' જ છે, એ ખરું; પરંતુ એટલું પૂરતું નથી. અમારે ઉત્તમ વસ્તુ સરસ રીતે પહોંચાડવી છે. પુસ્તકોની પસંદગી `ઉત્તમ- અને-રસપ્રદ'ના ધોરણે કરીએ છીએ: એટલે કે રસપૂર્વક વાંચી શકાય એવાં ઉત્તમ પુસ્તકો અમે, ચાખીચાખીને, સૌ સામે મૂકવા માગીએ છીએ. તો, આવો. આપનું સ્વાગત છે ગમતાના ગુલાલથી...
